Schecter Van Nuys Serial Numbers

Up for auction is this gorgeous custom Telecaster style guitar with a single humbucker pickup. The guitar looks to be made from all Van Nuys era Schecter parts. My brother was the manager of the Schecter Custom Shop from 1980 until the shop closed. I don't know exactly when this guitar was built, he could have built it while at Schecter or he could have built it later from his extensive collection of parts, I just don't know for certain. The body looks to be made from a solid koa with black binding top and bottom. Although there is no numbers or stamp in the neck pocket this body is very similar to other Schecter bodies I have sold so I am fairly certain this body is Schecter. The neck is Schecter as you can tell from the peghead decal and the burned logo on the base.

Bloc Party Four Rar Zipper there. The number 903 is also stamped on the base but that number doesn't match any of the part numbers in the catalogs I have. The wood has a rich red tone and tight grain. It almost looks like cherry but I don't know if Schecter produced necks in that wood.

The pickup is a Schecter Z-Plus humbucker. The guitar has double strap buttons which is another Van Nuys Schecter feature.

No belt buckle rash. There is one spot on the body where it looks like the finish is cracked and lifted slightly on the edge of the body by the neck pocket. I think this is due to a hard spot in the grain that the finish didn't take to very well. There is also a dark spot on the front of the body between the neck and pickup. It is under the finish and I can't tell if it is in the wood or if it is filler.

The black anodizing has been worn off the edge or the bridge plate. The frets look very good with almost no noticeable wear.
